Five Important Events That Occurred During The War
The Tonkin Gulf Resolution
In 1964 August 7th, The Tonkin Gulf Resolution act was passed which was in
retaliation of the Tonkin Gulf incident by President Lyndon B. Johnson. The act
would give Johnson full power to go to war with North Vietnam without the
approval of congress.

The Tet Offensive
A Vietcong campaign organized by the Vietcong on 1968 January 30th, that focused on taking out militarily and civilian command points. It was the largest covert mission on the communist side and ended up killing a lot of Americans and allies.
My Lai Massacre
The My Lai Massacre occurred on March 16th 1968 and was the killing of 340 civilians in the small villages of my khe and son my. These villagers were shot, stabbed, and tortured; especially, women and children there was no specific reason for the brutal massacre but those who were involved were punished minimally with house arrests for two years.
Invasion Of Cambodia
A operation conducted by The U.S. and South Vietnam on April 29th 1970, which defeated 40,000 people of the army of Vietnam (north). The U.S. and South Vietnam took a ton of materials and supplies from the bases in their successful strike.
Kent State University Incident
The Kent State University Incident happened on May 4th 1970, was the shooting of students, and fellow protestors. Four students and twelve injured, Because of this, many college campuses around the country protested violently and non violently over the Kent State Incident.
